Andy Serkis has spent more than twenty years in the film, television and theatre industries, as an actor, filmmaker, director and pioneer of performance in the digital realm.

He is widely acknowledged to be the world’s leading proponent of the art and craft of Performance Capture, which first leaped to prominence when Andy gripped audiences, playing Gollum in the acclaimed Lord of the Rings trilogy and Kong in King Kong. In 2011 Andy took the art form to new heights when he starred in the leading role of Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Captain Haddock in The Adventures of Tintin. He directed the second unit on The Hobbit, Peter Jackson’s 2012 prequel to The Lord of the Rings in which he also reprised the role of Gollum.

As a stage actor Andy has appeared in over 40 productions in London and theatres across Britain, most recently as Iago in Shakespeare’s Othello. His acclaimed live action film and television roles cover more than 60 productions, including Albert Einstein in Einstein and Eddington and his Golden Globe and Bafta nominated performance in Longford. In 2009 he was Bafta nominated for his role as the Legendary British proto punk Ian Dury in the biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.

In the games arena, Andy directed performance in Ninja Theory/Sony’s hit Playstation 3 title Heavenly Sword, setting a new benchmark for emotionally engaging characters in videogames. His follow-up was the critically-acclaimed Enslaved, again with Ninja Theory.
